It's Therapy Thursday and today I am sharing a Sick Detox Bath Recipe by Vitacup.
INGREDIENTS: 1 Cup of Epsom Salt Epsom Salt is a bath soaking staple, but do you know why? Epsom salt helps to ease tired and swollen joints and muscles. When added to warm water Epsom Salt breaks down into magnesium, which helps with a multitude of problems such as insomnia, digestion, and stress.
1 Cup of Baking Soda Baking soda, while a key ingredient in a lot of baking, can also be used for a variety of health benefits. Baking soda helps to neutralize acid in the body, which will help your joints and muscles feel better and boost kidney function. Baking soda also works as an anti fungal and antiseptic.
2 Tablespoons of Ginger (fresh ginger is better but powdered works too) Ginger has been used for hundreds of years and can even be traced back to ancient Greece when it was believed to be a magical “cure-all” for poison. While ginger won’t save you from poisoning, it will make you sweat, and that is one of the quickest and most effective ways to get rid of toxins.
½ Cup of Sea Salt Sea salt is a cooking essential, but it also helps increase circulation and detoxification when absorbed through the skin.
1 Cup of Apple Cider Vinegar Apple cider vinegar has been talked about for many years as a great way to fight infections and aid in digestion, but it also can restore the natural pH of the body and help diminish inflammation.
Optional: 5-10 Drops of any essential oil(s) Aromatherapy is a great way to fight symptoms of a cold, flu, or infection. Eucalyptus is terrific for fighting viruses and reducing fever, Chamomile is beneficial for relieving cold, and flu symptoms and tea tree oil fights infections and inhibits bacteria.
DIRECTIONS: Draw your bath as hot as you can stand it. Pour ingredients into the bath and soak for 40 minutes. They say the first 20 minutes is to detoxify and the last 20 is so your skin can absorb the minerals. You should have a good sweat at this time, so be sure to hydrate during and after your bath.
