Soothing Calendula Body Lotion Bar
Our first Therapy Thursday recipe for Self Love will be a Soothing Calendula Body lotion Bar by Over Throw Martha. Great for chemical free moisturizing year round!
Ingredients (made ~4+ full size bars using this silicone mold) 1 cup Shea Butter 1 cup Beeswax, organic 1/2 cup Coconut oil 1/2 cup Calendula oil 1/4 tsp Vitamin E Skin Oil 1/4 tsp Vegetable Glycerin 25 drops of Lavender essential oil 15 drops of Elemi or Frankincense essential oil 15 drops of Melrose essential oil
Method I melt the shea butter, beeswax and coconut oil over a double boiler. Once they were melted, I removed it from the heat and stirred in the Calendula oil, vitamin E, vegetable glycerin and essential oils. I used a silicone mold. I filled each mold about half way with liquid to make 8 half size bars using this recipe. I let them harden overnight and removed them from the mold in the morning. If you don't have calendula, you can substitute any other carrier oil for similar consistency, but you will not have the same kind of soothing effect as calendula oil has. Step 1: Rub the lotion bar with your hand. Step 2: You rub that hand on your body.... or your husband... or a random hottie. You're smart-- you get the idea!!! Or if you're lazy just rub the bar all over your body. I won't judge... because that's what I do....
